When the Kibera Public Space Project helps residents design small businesses and community institutions to go alongside newly constructed dwellings, it is made sure that these fixtures are financially self-sufficient. This ensures that 1) the Kibera residents feel ownership over these spaces and institutions 2) external aid orgs. are not forced to intervene with additional resources.
